Historie John Pronk

History

Pronk Transport has deep roots in the transportation of vegetables, fruit, flowers and plants. Our business dates back to the 1950s when Pronk brothers and sons criss-crossed Europe to deliver fruit and vegetables to Berlin and Milan. Today, Pronk still goes the extra mile to stay fresh. Our history is too beautiful to keep to ourselves.

1935

The beginning

Piet Pronk, John Pronk's grandfather, starts transporting and trading fruit and vegetables.

1950

From sole proprietorship to Company brothers

Piet's sons, including John's father, Joop, take over and expand the transport activities. The Pronk brothers transport fruit and vegetables to cities such as Berlin, Milan, Saarbrücken and Paris.

1960

The origin of MJ Pronk BV

Joop starts his own export business in fruit and vegetables with one vehicle. This company is still active today and is run by John's brother, Peter, and his son, Maarten.

1978

The first kilometers of John Pronk

John Pronk begins working for his father, Joop.

1990

The founding of John Pronk

John starts his own transport company. He drives for Pater Bakery with only one vehicle and soon has a busy schedule: bread in the mornings, flowers and plants in the afternoons. Two drivers per vehicle turns out to be the perfect balance.

2000

New location John Pronk

The company is growing rapidly: more vehicles, more employees and more customers, including a major floral foil manufacturer. Pronk Transport rents space from Simon Laan for 10 years.

2010

The first trips to the UK

The relationship with the floral foil manufacturer is terminated due to a tender. Mergers in the bakery industry result in less transport in this sector. Bussiness in the flowers and plants transport is going through the roof. With the first few shipments to the UK, Pronk Transport's focus shifts across the Channel.

2015

The 2nd generation starts at John Pronk Transport

Marius Pronk, John's son, joins the company.

2020

Expansion of the Kudelstaart location

The company has been making great strides. It now has its own premises close to the Aalsmeer flower auction site. A growing number of vehicles are collecting, handling and delivering produce all over the Benelux and the UK.

2021
